Jay Schweizer

DVM & Co-Owner

Earning magna cum laude honors, Dr. Schweizer received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Missouri in 1992. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, and the Association of Avian Veterinarians. He loves his dog Zeke and his cat Mr. Whiskers. The proud husband of Ronee and father of three sons - Jacob, Luke, and Timothy - Dr. Schweizer enjoys fishing, boating, swimming, and biking.

Kevin Harsha

DVM

Dr. Harsha received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Kansas State University in 1997. Today he is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association,and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association. He is the proud husband to Kristi and father to Rebecca and Zach, with whom he cares for and an English Bull Dog named Brick. In his spare time, Dr. Harsha loves camping, fishing, reading, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors.

Monica Crowe

DVM

Dr. Monica R. Crowe is an Associate Veterinarian at Crysler & AniMed Animal Hospital. Dr. Crowe earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 and her areas of professional interest include feline medicine, internal medicine, and abdominal ultrasound. Dr. Crowe was inspired to become a veterinarian when her first poodle was sick with parvo and a veterinarian saved his life. This experience made Dr. Crowe want to change people’s lives for the better by helping their pets.

Originally from Baton Rouge, LA, Dr. Crowe now lives in Blue Springs, MO with her three daughters and her 2-year-old cat, Trixie Ann, and her 2-year-old toy poodle named Pierre. Pierre is Dr. Crowe’s third toy poodle; she loves poodles and doodle breeds. In her free time, Dr. Crowe does whatever her three little girls want to do!

Maureen Rettig

Practice Manager

Maureen is always surrounded by animals – she lives with a Labrador named Gideon, a Bichon named Cassie Mae, a Border Collie named Hotchner, two cats, Zari and Cailin, two African Gray Parrots, Scarlett and Rett, and two Macaws, Button and Ollie. When she’s not at Crysler, Maureen and her husband Dan love spending as much time as possible with their seven grandchildren.

Diana Auffert

Registered Veterinary Technician

Diana Auffert is a registered veterinary technician at AniMed Animal Hospital. She graduated with a Bachelors of Biology from Missouri Western State College in 1994, and earned her Associate’s degree in Applied Science at Maple Woods Community College in 2001. Diana has been working within the veterinary industry since 1998, and her areas of professional interest include emergency care and CPR. Diana loves watching a pet go home healthy after a trip to the vet!

Originally from Northwest Missouri, she currently resides in Liberty, MO with her husband, and two dogs, Rocky and Bear. She loves spending time with her nieces and nephews, walking her dogs, swimming, reading, painting, and target shooting. A fun fact about Diana was that she was born in Ankara, Turkey!

Valerie Hoffman

Registered Veterinary Technician

Valerie Hoffman is a registered veterinary technician at AniMed Animal Hospital. She attended Missouri Western State College from 1983-1985, and earned her Associate’s degree in Applied Science at Maple Woods Community College in 2003. She began working in the veterinary industry in 1999, and her areas of interest include pain management, physical therapy, and behavior. Valerie says the best part of working in the veterinary field is being able to play an active role in the healing of sick or injured animals, and keeping pets healthy.

Originally from Plattsburg, MO, Valerie has called Independence, MO home for the last 28 years with her husband, two sons, and four grandchildren. When she finds free time, Valerie loves walking her English Springer Spaniel, Penny, fishing, golfing, swimming, and gardening.

Sarah Lamp

Groomer

Sarah has been in the grooming industry since 2018. Her favorite part of grooming is making pets feel comfortable and educating pet parents on how to take care of their pets' coats. She lives in Grain Valley with her two dogs, Nala and Pumba. In her free time she likes to spend time with her family and friends, cooking and outdoor activities.
